Application of Fungal Waste Biomass Originating from Steroid Hormone Manufacture for Heavy Metals Removal

Abstract: The biomass of Curvularia lunata, used previously for hydrocortisone production, was investigated as a heavy metal biosorbent. Removal of lead, zinc and cadmium ions was evaluated as a function of biosorbent dosages, initial ion concentrations, mode of mycelium modifications, initial pH of metal solutions and when these metals ions where presented in binary as well in ternary combinations. The results presented in this paper indicate the potential utility of C. lunata waste biomass for lead and, to a lower extent, for zinc and cadmium ions removal from acid solutions.
Suggesting a Very Simple Experiment Designed to Detect Tachyons  [PDF]

Abstract: Production of tachyons in, among other things, air showers would be in accordance with predictions of general relativity. Some such tachyons would travel with a precisely determined speed, almost equal to 5c/3 relative to the earth, and would be registered high above the region of creation of air showers, e.g. on board of a satellite. A very simple experiment designed to detect these tachyons is outlined here. Brief justification to search for tachyons is also given.

Abstract: In the paper the phenomena related to the tendencies in the exchange rate have been analysed basing on a new methodological approach to the category of foreign trade. The approach includes the so-called internal and external aspect of foreign trade. The approach proposed in the paper proves to be very helpful in the analysis of the phenomena in today's economy.

Abstract: Aim. An attempt to determine the main research directions currently undertaken in Polish psychiatry. Material and methods. On the basis of the last 15 issues of the bimonthly journal Polish Psychiatry it was attempted to determine the main directions of research, subjected to publications in the bimonthly journal of PTP. The research topics, their authorship and place of origin, as well as bibliometric categories of the publications were analysed. Results. Most of the works concerned the psychopathology, diagnosis and aetiology of mental disorders. There were relatively not many publications concerning pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy. Of the 370 authors and co-authors, the majority (70%) have published only one article in “Polish Psychiatry”. Empirical publications, especially the original ones, came mainly from academic centers. Sponsorship was rare – most often (15%) in the form of university, Ministry of Science and Higher Education and National Science Centre grants, incidentally (4%) came from pharmaceutical companies.Conclusions. At present, the empirical studies of Polish psychiatrists focus mainly on the aetiopathogenesis of psychoses (both original researches and reviews), mainly in the area of adult psychiatry.
The changes of intensity of organisation of agriculture production in Poland

Abstract: The analysis of changes of the level of intensity organisation of agricultural production in Poland, in 1950-2008 years, was presented in the paper. The evaluation of regional differentiation of the indices and dynamics of changes was done on the comparison basis average from 3 years 2006-2008 against the background of the averages from 2001-2003. The evaluation of intensity of organisation agriculture production was done on the statistical data GUS using the Kope point method. The provided analysis showed that differential level of intensity organization agriculture production was mainly influenced by changes in Polish agriculture and the whole national accounts. Size, tendency and dynamics of the changes are different for various regions.

Abstract: Sa？etak Increasing competitiveness of small and medium enterprises, especially in the situation of growing economic globalization in the member countries of European Union and internationalization of activity of such enterprises, requires overcoming numerous obstacles the enterprises have to face. One of the most substantial of them is deficiency of means for the enterprises’ growth, particularly the means earmarked for innovative activity. This is mainly the consequence of lack of knowledge about how the enterprises could gain financial means from the alternative financing sources. This hinders establishing the optimal configuration of financing for an enterprise. Consequently, the purpose of the paper to improve enterprises’ access to external capital so as to be able to carry out the investments oriented towards strengthening of the enterprises and launching innovative products and services. The main result of research (sample of Polish SME) is preparing of advanced system of financing including alternative forms of financing of SME on each stages of their life cycle, connected with multicriteria forms of their assessment
